To young and old alike guidance is necessary. The text from Psalms 32:8 which states: "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye." assures us of God's guidance. God guides us by His counsel and with His Holy Word. He
also guides us with His eye. To think of God's eye as a guide may seem strange, but the eye can express joy or grief, approval or dislike.
A look from a person may restrain a child from doing wrong. When Peter denied his Lord, Jesus "looked upon Peter" and we are told that "Peter went out, and wept bitterly." Telling others what to do or the best way in which to do it can seem so easy and natural to us; however, it is easier and so much better for all tolet our loved ones rely on God's guidance rather than our own. With God's sure and gentle guidance constantly at work in our lives, we can know that each of us is being given the right direction. Just as each of us has individual life experiences, so, too, each of us receives his or her own
guidance from God. What might be right for us to do might not be right for someone else. For some, God's guidance might come in the form of a still small voice;
for others, a strong, persistent knowing. But no matter how our guidance comes to us we will always know that it will come, for God is in charge.
As we listen, God guides us. "Teach me the way I should go." Psalms 143:8.
Let us take a look at the word GUIDANCE. In the word guidance, you see the small word dance. Doing God's will is a lot like dancing. Two people can't lead in dancing. When one person leads, the movement seems to flow
and is not jerky. Dancing takes surrender, willingness and attentiveness from one person and guidance and skill from the other. The other lettersfrom the word guidance are GUI and the G represents God. That leaves u and i. To get guidance in your life, you and I must let God guide
us in eachseason of life!
Melody Bonnette had a dear friend named Jeanie who's father had died. Melody sent a basket of fresh fruit. Jeanie really appreciated the basket of fruit for she said that during the time she was growing up, a produce man
would leave a box of fresh fruit on their porch. Jeanie said that she believed the Lord had guided Melody to send the fruit instead of flowers.
Have you ever tried to counsel someone who would not stop talking long enough to listen to good advice? Lawyers are not overly fond of clients who tryto tell them how to handle a case and defendants often do themselves moreharm than good by ignoring their lawyer's advice.
Proverbs 3:6 says: "In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths." Are you trying to come to a decision in some matter? Let go of your doubts and questions. Become in tune to God's wisdom. The
all wise, all knowing and all guiding mind of God will make things clear. He will make decisions clear and free any feeling of limitation.
Marcus Wills wrote:
"Come, gracious Spirit, heav'nly Dove,
With light and comfort from above;
Be Thou our Guardian, Thou our Guide;
O're every tho't and step preside.
The light of truth to us display,
And make us know and choose Thy way."
Teach Me Thy Way O Lord
Teach me Thy way, O Lord, teach me Thy way
Thy guiding grace afford, teach me Thy way
Help me to walk aright, more by faith, less by sight
Lead me with heav'nly light, teach me Thy way
When I am sad at heart, teach me Thy way
When earthly joys depart, teach me Thy way
In hours of loneliness, in times of dire distress
In failure or success, teach me Thy way
When doubts and fears arise, teach me Thy way
When storms o'erspread the skies, teach me Thy way
Shine through the cloud and rain, through sorrow, toil and pain
Make Thou my pathway plain, teach me Thy way
Long as my life shall last, teach me Thy way
Where'er my lot be cast, teach me Thy way
Until the race is run, until the journey's done
Until the crown is won, teach me Thy way
-Benjamin Ramsey
When I am sad at heart, teach me Thy way ... The young mother set her foot on the path of life. "Is this the long way?" she asked.
And the guide said "Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the beginning."
But the young mother was happy, and she would not believe that anything could be better than these years.
So she played with her children, she fed them and bathed them, and taught them how to tie their shoes and ride a bike and reminded them to feed the dog and do their homework and brush their teeth.
The sun shone on them, and the young Mother cried, "Nothing will ever be lovelier than this."
Then the nights came, and the storms, and the path was sometimes dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother drew them close and covered them with her arms, and the children said, "Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come."
And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children, "A little patience and we are there."
So the children climbed, and as they climbed they learned to weather the storms. And with this, she gave them strength to face the world. Year after year, she showed them compassion, understanding, hope, but most of all, unconditional love.
And when they reached the top they said, "Mother, we would not have done it without you."
The days went on, and the weeks and the months and the years, and the mother grew old and she became little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with courage. And the mother, when she lay down at night, looked up at the stars and said, "This is a better day than the last, for my children have learned so much and are now passing these traits on to their children."
And when the way became rough for her, they lifted her, and gave her their strength, just as she had given them hers. One day they came to a hill, and beyond the hill, they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide.
And mother said: "I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk with dignity and pride, with their heads held high, and so can their children after them."
And the children said, " You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates."
And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates closed after her. And they said: "We cannot see her, but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence."
Your Mother is always with you. She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street, she's the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick and perfume that she wore, she's the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well, she's your breath in the air on a cold winter's day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow, she is Christmas morning.
Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop. A mother shows every emotion........ happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow..... and all the while, hoping and praying you will only know the good feelings in life. She's the place you came from, your first home, and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space......... ......not even death!
He was just a little boy, on a week's first day.
He was wandering home from Sunday School,
and dawdling on the way.
He scuffed his shoes into the grass, and found a caterpillar.
He found a fluffy milkweed pod, and blew out all the filler.
A bird's nest in a tree overhead, so wisely placed on high,
Was just another wonder that caught his eager eye.
A neighbor watched his zig zag course, and hailed him
from the lawn. Asked him where he'd been that day and
what was going on.
"I've been to Sunday School," he said and turned a piece of sod. He picked up a wiggly worm replying, "I've learned a lot of God."
"M'm very fine way," the neighbor said, "for a boy to spend his time." "If you'll tell me where God is, I'll give you a brand new dime,"
Quick as a flash the answer came!! Nor were his accents faint. "I'll give you a dollar, Mister, if you tell me where He ain't!"
The Extravagance of God
More sky than man can see
More seas than he can sail,
More sun than he can bear to watch
More stars than he can scale.
More breath than he can breathe,
More yield than he can sow,
More grace than he can comprehend,
More love than he can know.
