WHAT IF TOMORROW NEVER COMES?
Dorinda Hicks
What if tomorrow never comes? What effect would it have on you? Do you spend today, preparing for tomorrow? So often we sit and worry about what we have to do tomorrow. A lady was sharing with me the other day and she told me, why worry about tomorrow, tomorrow never will come? I looked puzzled at her and she went on to explain, that today is today, but when I wake up tomorrow it will be today, so I will not get to have a day called tomorrow.
I have heard many people say, there is not enough minute in a day, yet we spend many of those minutes worrying about what is going to happen tomorrow. There is much to do today. The word of God tells us that we are to die
to self daily. (OUCH) Tomorrow is not promised to any of us. I am learning to be appreciative of the minutes in a day. I use to take time for granted. It is time out for us procrastinating. There are things that many of us know that God has told us to do. We somehow get to a
place that we want to do what we want to do, the way we want to do it, but we must do what God would have us to do and do it his way. It is not always comfortable, but it is easy when you are doing what God would have you to do. Are you doing what God has told you to do? The first thing that God told me to do was pray. I have been interceding and praying for others for years. There are many other things I feel led to do, but I must continue with the foundation that God has given me. PRAYER
should be a priority in all of our lives. The word of God tell us to pray without ceasing.
Many of us are trying to do what we want to do, and how many of you know that until we do what God has told us to do nothing else is going to work. It reminds me of when I was in the marching band in high school. I could remember we would march all the way down field, form a
formation only to hear the director say, GO BACK. I hear God telling me to go back. I have to go back to where I started from. There are things that He wants to perfect in us. Time is no longer an issue. It is very important at this pivotal point in my life to be obedient. What is it that God has told you to do? Are you doing it?
Many times we are prioritizing and doing what we want, but are you doing what God has told you to do? Many of us live for tomorrow, but remember you will never have a day called tomorrow. Many live in there past -- the yesterdays. You cannot change the past. Many of us will miss the joy that comes with today, worried about yesterday and tomorrow! Live to the fullest today, for a day called tomorrow will never come.
Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
