Deacon Erskine Steen

A Friend, Colleague,  & Servant

Entered the Church Victorious on January 30, 2005

Erskine had a way about her. She began her day in prayer, every day, thanking God for having woken up with a sound mind and a grateful heart. When people speak of her they will say that Erskine was a worker, she was a true deacon because she knew how to serve. She did, and we think it was because as she would say, "Well, that's what we're supposed to do." She knew the LORD expects it from everyone and she for one was going to do it. Erskine did it out of faith, out of love and out of gratitude. She served in so many ways: She was always never far from the kitchen door (and we appreciated her cooking!).  She was in the choir, in the Sunday School, at Kid's Club weekday activities and Vacation Bible School.  She served as Worship Leader and as a member of the Altar Guild and on the Church Council. She was active in the Women's Group and the Bible Study Group.  You could always count on Erskine.  She was always ready to serve.   You could not miss her dry sense of humor, her insight and her oh, so soft manner of speaking. She was someone who you always wanted to give a hug.  We can always cherish her memory, imitate her praying ways, and her loyalty, humility and work ethic, and we will always, always, miss her. "Well done, good and faithful servant!"
